New priorities for 2018

Our priorities for 2018 are:

  • ensuring women understand their birthplace options
  • trauma-informed care (ensuring maternity services meet the needs of survivors of abuse)
  • breastfeeding support

These priorities were voted for by our members at our Development Day on 17th January. Thank you to everyone who attended. We’d love to hear from anyone who has an interest in these areas and would like to help us take this work forward.

Hi Bromley MV, very pleased to see you calling for trauma informed maternity services. Birth Companions is a charity working with perinatal women experiencing severe disadvantage and almost all of them have experienced trauma. We too are huge advocates of the trauma-informed approach. It would be great to connect with you.

Hi Naomi. We’d love to talk with Birth Companions. We want to make sure we’re hearing from a wide range of service users. We’d be interested to hear the experiences of any mothers you support from Bromley. I think one of our members may be a doula working with Birth Companions. I’ll discuss with her and we’ll get in touch with you. Thank you. Hannah, Chair – Bromley Maternity Voices
